Port Blair, Aug 30: In a letter to Chief Secretary, A&N Admn, Shri.M.Vinod, President of AATO has requested for immediate appointment of Inland Vessel Surveyor.
Vinod mentioned that there are approximately 600 boats operating in A&N Islands, which are annually surveyed by I.V. Surveyor appointed by PMB. However presently there is no Inland Vessel Surveyor appointed in PMB. As a result, many boats are non-operational, awaiting survey.

Port Blair, Aug 30: CPI (M) Port Blair City Area Committee organized a Mass Demonstration in front of the office of Superintending Engineer, Electricity Department, Port Blair at 4.30 p.m. today (30th August, 2022) to protest against the frequent power cut at Port Blair and South Andaman areas.

Port Blair, Aug 30: A two-member delegation of Andaman Association of Tour Operators comprising Shri. Saikat Biswas, Joint Secretary and Shri. Sumit Kumar Mallick attended the 66th cruising convention of Travel Agent Association of India in Singapore recently. The convention was held onboard Spectrum of the Seas, a luxury cruise by Royal Caribbean Cruises.

Port Blair, Aug 30: Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman/Secretary (RD) Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shri. Radhey Shyam Meena, DANICS, Director (RD/PRIs) along with Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Sippighat, SDM, Director (RD), SE (PRIs) and EE (PRIs) inspected the Sippighat creek area to evaluate the scope of rural tourism. The PRIs had suggested and put forth the proposal for opening of the creek area for tourism activities and create infrastructure for captivating vantage points for the rural tourism.

Port Blair, Aug. 30: Transport Department is committed to provide prompt services to the general public of this UT. To improve the service delivery systems, Department has taken many proactive steps towards faceless transactions, timely service delivery, maintenance of transparency etc. The department has been receiving number of requests for issuance of NOC / route permits to commercial vehicles.
